PROCESS
Attend a game at LZ-5 (Fairfield, CA). Let us know you're interested on the forum or other means. We have opened up our training days to non-members, which is a good way to see who we are and what we are about (game day we're either busy or under concealment and avoiding contact). Attending training days and game days are both noncommittal methods of seeing what the team is about - without even letting us know you're considering applying.
Candidates get a 'sponsor' who communicates event time, helps them learn some basics about our team, and answers any questions. We have a formal process for being accepted into the team that does take personality into account, but does have standards to be met.
REQUIREMENT
Must be 18+, no exceptions. We are seeking independent and mature members in our organization. Must have the resources and TIME to devote to training and games at least 2 times a month (on Saturday).
CANDIDATETasks -
- 18+
- Good reputation
- Mature
- Has time, money, transportation (can commit)
- 1:15 Stress Shoot
- 20 push-ups
- USJTF Basic Special Warfare Course attendance
Test to become Operator -
- Attend recruiting event[liststyle]#[/liststyle]
- Take our basic training - learn all our SOP
- Attend one event with SPEAR Group buddy
Loss of Status -
- USJTF Basic Special Warfare Course
- Subjective evaluation from all group members.
A member who has earned the patch, but cannot be consistently active will become TDY status, meaning we consider them on 'Temporary Duty Assignment' for other commitments.
Position in Fire Team is lost, and to regain 'full member status' the Operator should re-demonstrate capability through the USJTF Special Warfare Courses and SOP tests as a Candidate would.
The purpose of this is to provide a path for Operators that lose touch with the development of SPEAR Group to get back up to speed.
CHARACTER OF TEAM
SPEAR Group team structure is based on a special operations team with specialty skills taken on by each member, contributing to the whole. We are a Recon Company of the USTF.
We shoot more bbs during training than during games. We use standard / low-cap magazines, preferably STANAG magazine compatible.
Our team and the games we host are well organized and well planned.
We are serious about training and always honing our skills for milsim.
We do not attend or host 'speedball' type events. No disrespect, just not interested.
There are no big egos here. None of us claim to be more than what we are, a milsim team. We don't need to have others think we're cool in order to enjoy our hobby.
UNIFORM
Performance outranks clothing and equipment, but we do appreciate uniformity.
As a Company in the USJTF our Tan uniform is Multicam, and patches to the USJTF uniform standard. We maintain both Woodland and Multicam uniforms. Sleeves with velcro / pockets. Coyote or olive drab web gear - NO BLACK.
Helmet is painted with our pattern. Olive drab or coyote ball cap.
We have velcro backed patches.
TRAINING
We train a minimum of one Saturday per month - drills, not 'skirmishes'. In addition we participate in one public game at LZ-5 per month.
Our training is to USJTF standards, however, we have our own SOP and each member must maintain proficiency in these as well.
We are fortunate to have veterans oversee our training - members must be willing to learn and master our procedures.
